Ladyhawks Soccer Pre-Season

The LQHS girls’ soccer team began 2011’s preseason with a tie. The Ladyhawks preseason record was 2-0-1. Last year, the girls finished in 3rd place in DVL with a 12-8-5 record and eventually ended their season in the second round of CIF.

To start pre-season, the team played Shadow Hills on November 29. Varsity returners Stephanie Esquivel (10), and Abigail Duarte (12) scored the first two goals for LQ making it 2-0 at halftime. The girls shut out the Knights until almost the end when SHHS scored two back-to-back free kick goals. The final score was a 2-2 tie.

LQ’s next pre-season game was against Desert Hot Springs on Tuesday, December 6 at LQ. Varsity returner, Madison McFarlane (11), was the first to score for the Blackhawks. Esquivel scored the second goal making the game 2-0 a little after the second half started. Carly Rendon (10) was the last one to score for LQ making the final score 3-0. Varsity returner, Brielle Leon (10), had an assist along with Aileen Galicia (9) who had two assists.

The Ladyhawks finished the week by traveling to Desert Mirage on Thursday, December 8. LQ beat the Rams 9-0. Madisen Lester (10), Carlee Eagleson (11) and Leon scored twice in this game along with Rendon, Makena Lester (12) and McFarlane who also scored.

LQ played in the Irvine Classic over the weekend during the weekend of December 9-11, 2011. On Friday, December 9 LQ played Chino Hills. The girls fell short with a final score of 4-1. Esquivel was the lone scorer.

On Saturday, December 10, the team playedNorco. Mackenzie Spillman (12) scored the only goal of the game. The final score was 1-0. Later that day, the Ladyhawks played Western. The final score was 5-0 with LQ on top. Leon had a hat trick and Aileen Galicia had two goals.
