Actors act and singers sing, but not all actors can sing nor can all singers act. While everyone can take a swing at singing, not everyone can sing well. There are a few actors who can actually sing as well as act.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is known for movies such as Se7en, The Talented Mr. Ripley, the Iron Man series, and Country Strong. Her latter role as Kelly Canter in Country Strong displayed her vocal skills as a country singer.
Jamie Foxx
Jamie Foxx started off as a stand-up comedian, and built his way up to his own television show and radio show. In 2004, Foxx starred as the infamous blind pianist, Ray Charles, in Ray. Foxx has released 4 studio albums since 1994.
Anne Hathaway
Anne Jacqueline Hathaway appeared in the 1999 television series Get Real. She is most known for her roles in The Princess Diaries, The Devil Wears Prada, and Les Miserables.
Johnny Depp
Depp’s performance in the musical “Sweeney Todd” is a reminder that Depp has the chops, not only as an actor, but also as a singer. He is also has the chops as a guitarist and has played alongside with The Black Keys.
Joaquin Pheonix
Pheonix’s Oscar winning portrayal of musician Johnny Cash in the film Walk The Line showcased his singing talents as up to par with his acting skills.
Jada Pinkett
Willow Smith is not the only singer in the Smith family. Jada Pinkett is the lead singer of the rock band Wicked Wisdom.
Nicole Kidman
Her performance in Moulin Rouge displayed that her husband Keith Urban isn’t the only one that can sing in their relationship.
Zooey Deschanel
In (500) Days of Summer, Deschanel sang some of the songs on the soundtrack. Deschanel also is part of the duo She & Him.
Ryan Gosling
Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling displayed some of his singing abilities in the 2010 film, Blue Valentine. When he was younger, Gosling was part of Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club alongside Justin Timberlake and J.C. Chasez. Gosling was offered a deal to join Timberlake and Chasez in then future boyband *NSync. Gosling turned it down to pursue acting.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Up and coming hollywood star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is not only an acclaimed actor and director, but is also capable of holding a note. As part of his annual HitRECord event, Gordon-Levitt performs covers such as Sesame Street’s “I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon”, R. Kelly’s “Ignition”, and Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”.
Anna Kendrick
While many might now recognize Kendrick from Pitch Perfect, she started off doing the musical “High Society”. She performed in many theater productions and soon started showing up on the big screen. As part of the Twilight saga, 50/50, and End of Watch, Kendrick displayed her acting skills. In the 2012 film Pitch Perfect, Kendrick showcased her singing abilities once again.
Skylar Astin
Astin also showcased his singing abilities in Pitch Perfect alongside Anna Kendrick, but he also had a start in theater productions. He was cast in Spring Awakening and took the roll of Mark Cohen in a production of Rent directed in Neil Patrick Harris.
